So you’re interested in a new website!

And you’re ready to find out more about the nitty gritty? Let’s look at how the process will go when you work with us!

Each website project is slightly different, but they all follow the same general approach. Learn about what happens during each of the stages.

Q&A Time

Step 1

We’ll kick things off by directing you to our Website Questionnaire form, where you’ll fill in as much detail as possible about your business goals, needs and vision.

We’ll cover things like the purpose of your website, where your brand is at, whether you already have content or need help with supplying it, and also the technical side of things like integrations or other software we need to be aware of.

Our Proposal

Step 2

We’ll look through the answers about your business goals, audit what you currently have (this may be an existing website, or you may be starting from the ground up), and start to form a plan that will inform our recommendations, which will be laid out in our cost proposal to you.

Once we’re all clear and happy with the plan forward, including timelines and outcomes, we’ll send you a deposit invoice to get the project into our system.

Discovery & Functionality Mapping

Step 3

To kick things off officially, we’ll have an initial scoping meeting and plan out your goals and the ideal new website. We’ll do some research, and make a plan around the expected plugins and things needed to achieve everything.

We’ll also make a plan for copywriting or photography at this stage of the process so we can start preparing all the bits and pieces behind the scenes.

Sitemap

Step 4

We’ll refine and confirm a visual sitemap based on the answers we gathered from the questionnaire, which organises the hierarchy of all the pages that will live on your website.

We’ll make a plan about how this is best organised in your website navigation and how each page is connected to others so your audience and search engines can navigate it efficiently.

Wireframing

Step 5

Next we’ll move onto the visual planning, and comprehensively wireframe your website’s unique page layouts. This process allows us to strategically map out content hierarchy and functionality before we move into design.

By refining the flow at this stage, we plan for a user journey that makes engaging with your business intuitive and purposeful. These wireframes serve as our roadmap for the user experience, and a clear plan for how we’ll design next!

Content + Setup

Step 6

At this stage of the project we’ll gather all necessary brand assets, text content, media, logins and website setup information to prepare for a streamlined build.

If you have an existing website that we’re transferring content from, we’ll start migrating any relevant content to the new site in a staging environment.

For copywriting or photography that we’re sourcing for you, we’ll get it all ready at this stage of the process so we can drop it seamlessly into the next stage.

Page Designs

Step 7

This is where our wireframe strategy comes to life. We apply your brand assets to create a dynamic, user-centric interface designed to engage and convert.

We prioritise and optimise our designs for responsive browser sizes. By crafting specific layouts for desktop and mobile widths, we ensure that your customers enjoy a premium, cohesive journey on any screen.

Building, Configuring, Populating

Step 8

Once the visual direction is finalised, we begin the technical build. This is where we bring your static designs to life as a live, responsive digital asset.

We’ll be tailoring our approach to your needs during this stage: we may provide you with custom-built templates to hand-over to you for your own content population, or we can manage the end-to-end population for you, ensuring all content is properly formatted and search-engine friendly.

If there are specific plugins or third party integrations we are handling for you, we’d set them up during this stage as well.

Pre-Launch

Step 9

We’ll confirm the pre-launch and go-live process, and during this process we would also give the team access for testing of the backend and frontend setup.

Before going live, we work through a collaborative testing and sign-off process to verify that every link, button, and responsive layout works perfectly.

Launch time! 🚀

Step 10

We’ll set a time for go-live and with your approval, we’ll launch when the site is ready!

As websites are a dynamic and sometimes mysterious beast with lots of moving parts, we’ll make sure we are available for any immediate post-launch issues that may arise.

Hand-over & beyond

Step 11

Depending on how you’d like to maintain and manage your website content going forward, we’ll share some documentation and tutorials for how to make edits and basic troubleshooting so you feel equipped to manage your website going forward.

Website Build FAQs

Squarespace or WordPress. What platform should I use?

We would help recommend the suitable platform for you based on your business needs and goals, but generally speaking…

We recommend Squarespace for:

  • Service-based businesses that want to build trust, look professional, offer information, and allow for basic functionality like taking bookings and enquiries.
  • Portfolio websites where the content is the hero and make maximum visual impact.
  • Smaller e-commerce stores without extensive inventory or database needs.
  • Clients who prefer not to be too hands-on with ongoing maintenance as Squarespace can manage all your hosting, security and updates for you.

We recommend WordPress for:

  • Clients of any industry, and be as small (single page landing page) or as large (multiple pages, posts, products) as you need it to be.
  • Clients that value a more customised, bespoke looking website.
  • Businesses that need to manage larger inventory or databases, like large shops or directory listings.
  • Integration with other third-party software. You can integrate to almost any third-party API that exists, with ongoing updates and support.
  • Clients who don’t mind a bit of a learning curve to edit or manage the website going forward. The dashboard and customisability lets you be across every aspect of your website, and we’ll supply you comprehensive tutorials on handover so you feel confident making common edits and maintenance.

Every business has different needs and goals. If you’re unsure about which platform to go with, get in touch and we’ll help guide you with our recommendations!

To ensure the highest standard of quality and performance, we work exclusively within WordPress (with Elementor Pro page builder) and Squarespace.

By focusing our expertise on these industry-leading platforms, we can prioritise the user journey, strategic flow and high-end design over the technical troubleshooting that comes with unfamiliar systems. This allows us to deliver a more robust, polished, and reliable product for our clients.

We don’t offer standardised website package pricing because each business’s needs and desired outcomes are different. With our detailed questionnaires, we aim to understand the exact purpose of the website, what brand foundations you already have, whether you need help with additional content or assets, and the full scale and scope fo the website to give you a bespoke quote.

Yes, we are happy to provide standalone web design services.

Using Figma, we craft high-fidelity mockups and a detailed UI Kit (including global styles, components, and assets) to ensure your developer has a clear roadmap and assets for the build.

Depending on the size, scale and scope of the website, we can complete smaller single-page websites within 2-3 months, with larger extensive websites taking up to 12 months from start to end.

The timing will depend on the complexity of the website and how much is ready for us to work with, but we will confirm the milestones of the project for each stage at the outset, to help us stay on track and so there are no surprises.

If you do have a set launch date you need to work towards, please let us know as soon as you know, and we can let you know what is possible.

To maintain the highest level of quality and strategic alignment for our clients, we don’t take on one-off design requests. However, we want to ensure you are supported, so if you need a designer for ad-hoc projects, we would be happy to refer you to several trusted designers in our network who excel at this type of work.

We understand how stressful a technical outage can be. While we do not provide emergency technical support, the fastest way to resolve a ‘site down’ issue is to contact your hosting provider or platform support directly, as these are typically server-side matters.

If we built your website, please refer to the Handover Documentation we provided for your specific support links and basic troubleshooting tips.

For design-related ‘bugs’ or layout glitches on a site we developed, please email us with screenshots and your browser details. We will investigate the issue and provide a project estimate and timeline for the fix as a priority.
